Members of the Acme Arts Collective collaborate on an audio visual celebration of the end of nearly one hundred years of cannabis prohibition in the state of Illinois. The Green Leaves Sonic Triptych is comprised of three ambient improvisations by lichen on synthesizers and grumpy singlaub on effected guitars paired with videos by d.hopkins.
Spanning over one hour, the improvisations explore droney ambient spaces and follow groovy downtempos with video that serenely celebrates both the in-studio recording and beauty of the cannabis plant. Contemplative, uplifting and slightly psychedelic, the sonic triptych embraces and intrigues…much like the effects of a fresh terpene laden bud of indica dominant hybrid cannabis.
The celebration collaboration was organized and recorded by acme records in acme records studios and produced by @grumpySinglaub who reminded that the end of cannabis prohibition in Illinois represents an opportunity to reflect and celebrate. “We think of friends and brothers who were labeled as criminals until they died because of the anti-scientific and racist prohibition of cannabis, but we also celebrate the instance of the creation of a law in Illinois that allows humans to use cannabis; even though that law itself interpolates Illinois’ criminal cannabis statutes rather than abolishing them. Cannabis is healing – and humans need healing.”
